The CE driving licence is needed if you want to drive a truck with a trailer or semi-trailer whose total weight exceeds 750 kg. The CE driving licence therefore allows you to drive larger combinations, such as tractor-trailer combinations.
The cost of obtaining a CE driving licence varies greatly from one student to another, but on average the total cost is between €2,000 and €3,500. This includes driving lessons, the practical exam, and any additional costs such as the health certificate and medical examination. The exact price may also depend on the number of lessons you need.
The duration of getting your CE driving licence depends on your personal learning pace and how often you take lessons. For many students, the process takes on average a few weeks to a few months. If you already have experience with the C driving licence, it may be quicker. There are also crash courses where you can get your CE driving licence in 2 to 4 weeks.
