At Xpress Rijopleiding.co.uk, our truck driving lessons last 110 minutes. We recommend at least 2 lessons every week. If you want more than 2 lessons a week, you will be considered an emergency student. This means it is possible to complete your truck driving course at an accelerated pace.

Important information to remember:

• On average, between 20 and 30 hours of lessons are needed if you have no previous driving experience. Do you already have some experience? Then you will probably need fewer lessons. The exact number of lessons needed will be determined during a no-obligation trial lesson.
• With us, it is not possible to drive off until you are at the required exam level. The instructor assesses this using our progress system before declaring you exam ready. It is absolutely not possible to drive off without having reached the required level.
• Every student must also take a mock exam, this is a unique part of our teaching method to prepare students for the practical exam. This contributes to high success rates for our students.
• You will drive in one of the most suitable teaching vehicles: namely, the Mercedes Benz Actros. For eight years, this car has proven its qualities and provides a comfortable learning environment for our students.

Our truck driving school has its own online theory system and practice videos, all integrated into our unique driving school application: My Xpress. These teaching materials are developed according to our own teaching methods, which teach you to drive step by step. My Xpress provides a central place to manage your schedules, payments and progress. It is a comprehensive system that supports both theoretical and practical lessons.

If reading is not your preference, we also offer access to practice videos. In these, all driving lesson topics are succinctly presented in video form. This constitutes excellent preparation for the practical lessons and this translates into better learning outcomes. Students need on average 2/3 fewer lessons thanks to these valuable teaching materials.

At Xpress Rijopleiding.nl, we have our own driving school application that allows you to easily purchase truck driving lessons online and pay via iDeal. While many of our customers prefer online payments, we still want to provide the flexibility for some candidates to pay in cash if that is their preference.

Our application works on a balance system. You need to purchase your driving lessons or lesson package in advance, after which you can top up your balance. You can then schedule driving lessons using this balance. Lesson packages can be paid in instalments. The 10-hour lesson package uses 2 payment periods, while the other lesson packages can be paid in 3 periods.

To be eligible to apply for a C HGV licence with code 95, there are certain requirements you must meet:

Minimum age: To apply for a C driving licence with code 95, you must be at least 18 years old.

Driving licence B: You must hold a valid B driving licence.

Exemption: There are possible exemptions for some students on MBO courses.

Health declaration: Before booking your practical exam, you must be medically approved. This means you must submit a Health Declaration and be examined by a company doctor or a certified occupational health and safety service. Once approved, a Certificate of Fitness will be sent to the RDW, which is valid for one year.

It might seem logical that a D licence (for buses) would also allow you to drive a truck, but that is not the case. Although both vehicles are large, they have different driving techniques, rules and vehicle control. This is because trucks often have different weight distribution, a different centre of gravity and require different skills, such as loading and unloading goods. In addition, the regulations are different, as truck drivers have to deal with specific regulations around cargo, driving and rest periods and traffic rules. Therefore, a D driving licence is specifically for transporting people in buses, while a C driving licence is mandatory for transporting goods in trucks. For this reason, you therefore need to take a separate course to get your C driving licence, even if you already have a D driving licence.

The good news, though, is that with your D licence, you already have quite a head start. Many of the driving skills you gained from driving a bus, such as vehicle control, traffic insight and navigation in tight spaces, will come in handy. Therefore, with your existing experience, you can often get through the process of getting your C driving licence faster. This means the cost of getting a truck driving licence will be lower for you!
