What does code 78 mean on your automatic driving licence?

If you choose an automatic during your practical test, you will receive a note on your driving licence: code 78. This means you can only drive cars with automatic transmission.

Do you still want to switch to a manual car later? You can. You don't have to retake a theory exam, but you do start a procedure at the CBR. This starts with filling in a new health declaration. CBR first assesses whether you are physically and mentally fit to drive. If you are approved, you take a new practical exam - this time in a switch car.
