Can I drive a motorhome with driving licence B?

In many cases, B driving licence sufficient To drive a motorhome. It all depends on the maximum authorised mass (MTM) of the vehicle - this is the weight of the motorhome plus the maximum permissible load.

Up to 3,500 kg MTM → Driving licence B is sufficient

Between 3,500 and 7,500 kg MTM → Driving licence C1 is mandatory

Above 7,500 kg MTM → Driving licence C is mandatory (rare in motorhomes)

Note: the MTM can be found on the motorhome registration certificate. So this is not the empty weight, but the maximum permitted total weight.

If your motorhome is heavier than 3,500 kg (MTM), you need a C1 driving licence. Up to 3,500 kg, the B driving licence is sufficient.

Driving licence B allows you to drive vehicles up to 3,500 kg. C1 is for heavier vehicles (up to 7,500 kg), such as larger motorhomes or small trucks.
