NIWO Vehicle Register for Licensees Opens on May 11: What You Need to Know

From 11 May 2024, the NIWO will open the vehicle register for licence holders, not on 1 May as previously reported by TLN. In this register, transport companies are required to register their vehicles and the number of drivers. Each licence certificate must be linked to a vehicle, and the requirements for proving this will become stricter. This step is welcomed by TLN as an effective measure to combat fraud within the sector.

Stricter Controls on Drivers and Licences

Besides the vehicle register, there will also be more monitoring of the number of drivers within a transport company. New European rules from the Mobility Package require companies to employ enough drivers. For example, it does not make sense for a company with 10 licences to employ only one driver. The NIWO will actively check this information. Failure to provide this information may even lead to the revocation of your transport licence.

Registration of Licences and Drivers

The vehicle register is part of NIWO's business counter. Here, companies can easily register their license plates and indicate whether vehicles are bought, rented or leased. In the case of rented or leased, it is necessary to upload the corresponding contracts. In addition, enter the number of employees and drivers working in your company.

Access via eRecognition Level 3 (EH3)

To access the vehicle register and the entrepreneurs' desk, companies must log in with eHerkenning level 3 (EH3).
